We checked the website of every Midland and Odessa company in our directory. 305 of them have a careers page live right now. Here is where they are, by town and by specialty.
If you are looking for work in the Permian right now you are getting two stories at once. The headlines are about cuts. The job boards are full of openings in Midland and Odessa. Both can be true at the same time, and the reason why matters if you are the one applying.
So we went and checked. We took every Midland and Odessa company in this directory that lists a website, visited each one, and looked for a careers page. 305 of them have a live careers, jobs, or employment page as of September 6, 2026. Here is what we found and where it is.

Why both things are true
Drilling and service work are not the same job market. A rig moving off a pad does not end the work on that lease. Wells that have been drilled still have to be maintained, pumped, treated, hauled, measured and repaired for decades, and that work carries on through the ups and downs of the drilling cycle.
That production and service half of the market is, by a wide margin, the larger share of the companies in this directory. It is also where most of the careers pages below are.
Where the openings are, by town and specialty
These are the specialties with the most companies currently running a careers page. Each one links to the full list for that specialty and town, with phone numbers and addresses.

If you are coming in without experience
Four Midland staffing firms in this directory are running careers pages right now: EnergiPersonnel, Express Employment Professionals, MMP Consulting, and Permian Personnel. You can find all of them on the Midland staffing and recruiting page.
Staffing is often the fastest door in, but it is not the only one, and it is usually not the best paying one long term. A few things that are worth knowing before you drive out here:
- A CDL changes your options more than almost anything else. Hauling, vacuum trucks, fuel and lubricant delivery, and heavy equipment transport all run on drivers, and all of them are in this directory.
- Entry level in the patch usually means roustabout, floor hand, swamper, or shop helper. Those are the titles to search for. "Oilfield" on its own will not narrow anything down.
- Apply directly, then call. The companies above publish careers pages, but a phone call to the yard is still how a lot of hiring happens out here. Every listing in this directory carries a phone number for that reason.
- Expect a drug screen and a background check, and expect them early in the process rather than late.
How we built this list
On September 6, 2026 we visited the website of every published Midland and Odessa company in this directory. That is 840 companies with a website on file. 758 of them answered, and 305 had a link to a careers, jobs, employment, or hiring page: 180 in Midland and 125 in Odessa. Links that turned out to point at something else, such as a job safety analysis service page, were excluded.
Two honest caveats. A careers page is not the same as an open position. Some of these companies keep a standing application form up whether or not they are hiring this week. And this is a snapshot with a date on it. We plan to run this check again each month, because in this basin a list like this goes stale quickly.
If your company is hiring and is not on this list, add or update your listing. It is free and takes a few minutes.
