Atlas Energy Solutions

Atlas Energy Solutions supplies proppant and logistics services to oil and gas operators in the Permian Basin of West Texas and New Mexico. The company was founded in 2017 by veteran energy executive Ben Brigham, who serves as Executive Chairman, and is run by a leadership team with prior exploration and production experience. Work is organized around three connected lines: frac sand, last mile proppant logistics, and prime power generation.

Frac sand and mobile mining

Atlas states that it controls the largest position of high-quality frac sand in the Permian Basin, and describes itself as the industry's pioneer in mobile mining. That mobile mining offering is branded OnCore, and is positioned as a way to optimize the cost structure of the sand supply chain rather than to supply sand alone.

Paired with the company's last mile and logistics services, Atlas says the approach reduces truck miles driven and the emissions that go with them, while improving safety in the communities where it operates.

Last mile logistics

Fountainhead is the integrated last mile offering, managing the proppant value chain end to end with equipment matched to each job's wellsite and frac design requirements. Both dry sand and damp sand supply chains are handled, and solutions can be built around PropX containers. Dedicated in-field last mile support is available around the clock, with live reporting for operational visibility.

The Dune Express is described as the first long-distance conveyor built for transporting frac sand, applying an established technology to proppant movement across the Permian.

Digital platform

A last mile digital platform monitors proppant inventory at customer well sites in real time. Opti Order triggers sand orders automatically from live inventory and operational data feeds, and Opti Dispatch schedules, optimizes and dispatches sand deliveries without human intervention. Atlas reports a track record of 99.9% uptime with its partners.

Three applications sit on that platform:

• Coordinator Application: wellsite job management, load ordering and tracking, silo setup and prefill, fracking operations and inventory management, with loads completed by QR code or load ID
• Hauler Web Application: truck and driver onboarding, load management, bill of lading review and invoice generation, with dispatcher and accountant user roles
• AES Driver: account creation, load assignments and real-time delivery status updates for drivers

Power generation

Atlas develops prime power generator systems for oilfield use that run on raw wellhead gas, pipeline gas, or propane. The company states it was the first to engineer generators fueled by raw wellhead gas, and that the units have proven reliable from the heat and dust of West Texas to cold-weather operations in Wyoming and North Dakota.
