BlueFin Services

BlueFin Services is the specialty field services brand of GATE Energy, working alongside GATE's project delivery and marine teams and Viking's specialty engineering group. Its field service lines cover flushing and filtration, pipeline remediation pigging and gel technology, leak and pressure testing, and joint integrity. Core work centers on the construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance of pipelines and process systems.

Flushing and filtration

Filtration units are built for both high volume and low volume work and are designed to mitigate particle contamination. The company frames tools and systems integrity as a functionality assurance requirement that depends on trained personnel as much as on equipment.

Flushing scopes are grouped into four areas:

• Chemical flushing, pickling and passivation
• High velocity oil flushing
• Umbilical services
• Decommissioning flushing

Pipeline cleaning and remediation

Pipeline services cover cleaning and remediation pigging using gel technology, alongside hydrotesting and nitrogen services. That work is applied across the construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance phases of a pipeline's life.

Pressure and leak testing

Hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing is offered as a system integrity assessment method. The company describes pressure testing scopes as requiring system knowledge and competent field execution to deliver safe and compliant system function, and lists joint integrity work as part of the same industrial field services group.

Certifications and QHSE

BlueFin holds formal certification to three management system standards:

• ISO 9001, quality management
• ISO 45001, occupational health and safety management
• ISO 14001, environmental management

The company notes that ISO 45001 was published in March 2018 and replaces the older OHSAS 18001 standard. It states that its QHSE management system policy is the foundation of a commitment covering staff, customers and the wider community, and describes the operating goal as doing it right the first time.
