Kermit, TX Permian Basin Flowback & Well Testing

Flowback, well testing, equipment rental and roustabout crews across the Permian Basin, running company-owned manifolds, separators, gas busters and flares.

Bosque Energy Services is an oil and natural gas service company providing flowback, well testing, equipment rental and roustabout labor across the Permian Basin and beyond. The company was established in 2012 and lists well testing, flowback monitoring and equipment rental as its core lines, alongside construction and heavy duty equipment rental. Trained and certified well test and flowback crews operate in testing situations that include high temperature and high pressure environments, and the company also handles frac support, drill outs, production well testing and facility management.

Flowback and well testing

Flowback is the process of recovering the fluid used to hydraulically fracture a shale formation back to surface. Bosque runs its own equipment on this work rather than depending on third party providers, a position it traces to a decision taken by the end of 2013 to be responsible for every facet of a rig up. Well testing coverage includes metrics on fluid properties such as temperature, pressure, flow and makeup, used to assess down-hole conditions and well performance.

Equipment used on flowback jobs includes:

  • Hydraulic and manual choke manifolds, 2 inch and 3 inch
  • Plug catchers and sand separators
  • Gas buster 500 bbl tanks and half pit busters
  • Large volume test separators
  • 2 inch and 3 inch ESVs
  • Flares and incinerators

Rental equipment

Small and large rental equipment is offered for short and long term needs, including 3 and 4 phase large volume test separators. The company states that its double gas buster frac tanks and test vessels are nearly twice the size and capacity of competing alternatives.

Roustabout services

Bosque acquired an established roustabout company in January 2018 and supplies trained, certified roustabout crews for operations with no equipment requirement. Crews cover any stage of flow, including production facility management, general technicians and maintenance on both new installations and existing equipment.

Roustabout work includes:

  • Site preparation and equipment placement
  • Building and demolishing battery sites
  • Complete construction of SWD facilities
  • Laying new flow line and removing old flow line
  • Repairing leaks and general facility repairs
  • Pressure washing, backhoe services, fence builds and spreading gravel

Company history

The company began as a start up in the Barnett Shale, where five people with a mix of industry experience pooled two flowback packages in 2011. Midway through 2012 it moved equipment to West Texas, and describes rigging up jobs there within weeks of arriving. Winch trucks, 500 bbl gas busters and half pits were bought over the following years to remove third party involvement from its set ups.

Bosque describes its growth as averaging 125 wells per year for more than 10 concurrent clients, and names punctuality and pre-job preparation as the priorities it built the business on.
