Norwegian manufacturer of non-intrusive ultrasonic sensors for sand, corrosion, erosion, vibration, leak and pig detection monitoring on topside and subsea oil and gas installations.
ClampOn manufactures non-intrusive ultrasonic intelligent sensors for topside and subsea applications. Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Bergen, Norway, the company builds instruments that clamp onto the outside of pipework and structures rather than penetrating the flow stream. It reports more than 25,000 sensors sold worldwide and more than 30 years supplying monitoring instruments to the energy industry.
Measurement is continuous and real time. Sand in production lines, leakage from a valve, erosion in a pipe bend and vibration on a structure are tracked as they occur, with alarms passed to a control system, computer, operator, contractor or ClampOn's in-house monitoring team.

Topside product families include DSP Ex d particle monitors, PIG detectors and leak monitors, alongside DSP subsea instruments with CAN and high speed CAN interfaces. The BIRD wireless monitor completed testing in 2025 and is described by the company as field proven.

Service work is carried out by ClampOn personnel rather than third parties, on the basis that the people who designed the instruments know the measurement principles behind them.

Pre-installation support extends to operators and EPCs during planning, covering pipe geometry, material properties, flow conditions, subsea layouts and topside constraints before equipment reaches the field.
Sand calibration and managed monitoring
Field calibration introduces a known quantity and distribution of sand into the flow, then compares the measured instrument response against the injected volume to build a custom calibration table for each individual sensor. The company states that calibrating under real operating conditions, rather than by laboratory test or simulation, reduces uncertainty in sand rate and cumulative figures.
Continuing sand work is packaged as the ClampOn Sand Management Program, which sits alongside sand analysis reports, software calibration, managed sand monitoring, ClampOn Cloud and ad hoc support in the published service range.
Reach
Instruments are supplied to energy operators internationally through a network of agents, who are brought to Bergen for training and knowledge sharing. An office opened in the United Arab Emirates in 2025 to support customers in the Middle East, and the company reports securing a contract for subsea corrosion and erosion monitoring instruments in the same year.
