Workplace drug and alcohol testing

Programs cover DOT testing under 49 CFR Part 40 as well as non-DOT industrial testing, including:

Specimens go to Quest Diagnostics or Clinical Reference Laboratory, both SAMHSA-certified, and Psychemedics is used for hair testing. Noble instant cups, an FDA-approved medical device, handle rapid point-of-collection results, with non-negative specimens forwarded for GC/MS confirmation.

Random selection runs on a double-blind computer process drawing from pools configurable by company, home base, occupation, pool group and DOT reporting status, and consortium pools group multiple companies into a single selection pool. Membership includes audit support and MIS report generation for annual DOT data submission.

Oil and gas operator compliance

The company builds drug and alcohol programs for contractors that must satisfy operator requirements, naming Apache, EnCana, Marathon, Enterprise, Exxon, Whiting Oil & Gas and Consol. Scope includes written policies, random testing, employee list feeds to auditors, statistical data reporting and audit completion. More than 25 years of experience with operator compliance is claimed.

Background checks and occupational health

Background screening is provided in partnership with Clearstar, Inc., covering employment verification, motor vehicle records, CDLIS checks, DOT PSP record searches, and national, state, county and federal criminal record searches.

Occupational health services include OSHA respirator medical evaluations, pulmonary function testing, audiograms, spirometry, and qualitative and quantitative mask fit testing. Health fairs at the Midland and Odessa offices run lab panels covering lipids, thyroid, diabetes, cardiac markers and hormone profiles, alongside flu shots and blood pressure checks.

Training, products and DNA testing

Monthly classes, which can also be scheduled on site, cover DOT collector training, Breath Alcohol Technician certification, Designated Employer Representative, supervisor awareness and alternative specimen collection.

Products supplied include DSC 5, 10 and 12 panel rapid cups (the 12 panel adding fentanyl), Alco-Screen .02 saliva alcohol strips, Lifeloc EV30 and Phoenix 6.0BT evidential breath alcohol testers with printers and dry gas, and DOT and non-DOT alcohol testing forms. Collections integrate with FormFox and eScreen for electronic chain of custody.

DNA paternity and siblingship testing is available at all six locations using buccal swabs, blood or forensic samples, with court-admissible options. Lou's Clinical Laboratory is described as one of the few laboratories in the Permian Basin offering prenatal paternity testing. For treatment and recovery, the company partners with The Springboard Center in Midland.
