Melzer Consulting is a CO2 enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and residual oil zone (ROZ) consulting firm founded in 1997 by Steve Melzer, a geological engineer. The firm advises oil producers, CO2 source companies, and research organizations on screening and optimizing projects involving CO2 flooding, ROZ identification, horizontal drilling of ROZ intervals, and CO2 geologic sequestration. Its client list includes Denbury Resources, Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, Pioneer Natural Resources, Shell International, Praxair Corporation, the University of Texas System, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the Texas Railroad Commission, among others. Melzer Consulting has served as managing director for the annual CO2 Flooding Conference held each December in Midland, Texas, and its work covers ROZ opportunities in the Permian Basin as well as the Williston Basin.
