Neuralog
Well log and map digitizing, geological interpretation and E&P data management software, with well log scanners and high-speed well log printers.
Neuralog develops software and hardware for capturing, converting, interpreting and managing well log and map data for the oil and gas industry. The product line covers automated log digitizing, map digitizing, geological interpretation, project and document management, and the scanners and printers that feed and output that work. The company describes its approach as practical, intuitive and cost-minded solutions supporting each step of the exploration and production data workflow.
Products are organized around four stages: data capture, data interpretation, project and data management, and data access. Capture tools convert scanned logs into workstation-ready digital data and automatically recognize contour, symbol and graphic data on maps. Interpretation tools evaluate and display geological data from multiple sources, build cross sections, calculate reserves and annotate areas of interest for mapping and montages.
Software
- NeuraLog: automated well log digitizing that transforms scanned images into usable digital data
- NeuraMap: automated map digitizing for hand-drawn originals, scanned map images and digital maps
- NeuraView: display, editing, processing, annotation and printing of large documents, reading TIFF, JPG, BMP, PDS, PDF, CGM, EMF and LAS images in color, greyscale or black and white
- NeuraSection: geological interpretation supporting raster and digital well log correlation, cross section creation and analysis
- Neuralog Desktop: a map interface for managing projects, E&P documents and database information across a corporate workspace
- Neuralog Pro: an all-in-one integrated system that incorporates the full set of Neuralog modules
Scanners and printers
Well log and document scanners handle logs, maps and reports for digitizing or archiving. On the output side, the Callisto is an inkjet well log printer producing color prints up to 12 inches wide, while the Z4 and Z3 use the company's HD Color Printing technology. The Z4 runs Unison Toner, which the company describes as environmentally friendly and as producing less paper waste.
| Printer | Print speed |
|---|---|
| Callisto | Up to 90 feet per minute |
| Z4 | 11 inches per second |
| Z3 | 7 inches per second |
The NT1000 is a thermal truck printer built for printing in the field, and the 300x is a personal well log printer.
Company history
The company states that its initial market evaluations found plenty of software available for petroleum exploration but no efficient way to convert maps and well logs into digital form. NeuraLog was introduced in 1991 at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Society of Professional Well Log Analysts annual conferences, using neural network driven automatic curve tracing. NeuraMap followed in 1992, built to automate data capture from maps and drawings, and was selected by Landmark Graphics as a replacement for its ZCAP product. Its capabilities extended beyond petroleum work into other fields including environmental planning.
Product support
Support is available to clients enrolled in the ESM Program, covering problem resolution, bug reports and product improvement suggestions. Customers can also download current software versions, release notes, documentation, utilities and hardware drivers by product.
