Repeat Precision

Repeat Precision designs, engineers, and manufactures plug-and-perf downhole completion tools, covering frac plugs, wireline perforating guns, and single-use setting tools. The company is a 50/50 joint venture between RJ US and NCS Multistage, struck in 2015, and completed its first full year of operations in 2018. Listed locations include Midland, Houston, Austin, and Dallas/Fort Worth in Texas, along with Cheyenne, Wyoming, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Canada.

Manufacturing traces back to 2000, when the Martin family opened the first RJ Mexico plant in Ojinaga, Mexico, initially dismantling ESPs. A second Mexican plant followed in 2019. Tools are designed, manufactured, and assembled in house before delivery to the well site, and the company states it holds centralized completion equipment inventory in every major US basin.

Product lines

Frac plugs and bridge plugs

The PurpleSeal PS-C is a zero-metal, all-composite plug with ceramic buttons and low material volume, built for a fast, clean drill-out. Interlocking castellations on the slips, muleshoe, and load ring pair with a planar slip-to-cone interface to keep components from rotating and to allow even slip expansion during set. The company states the composite plug line is backed by more than 200,000 field deployments. PurpleReign, a dissolvable frac plug, launched in 2024.

The patent-pending PurpleSeal StageSaver adapts to composite frac plugs and is intended to remove the need for coiled tubing after a screen-out or misrun by flowing the device off seat. The company states it also supports a pressure test after plug setting and an injection test ahead of the frac.

Perforating guns

PurpleFire is the disposable wireline perforating gun line, engineered and manufactured in house and delivered to the well site ready to run. Guns are compatible with the operator's choice of shaped charge and setting tool, allowing custom gun strings. The PinPoint line, launched in 2024, orients internally for precise shot placement without wellsite intervention and is designed to eliminate on-site detonator wiring and grounding.

Setting tools and integrated strings

The patented PurpleSet single-use setting tool requires no redressing between deployments and pairs with Forcellant 10 and 20 power charges. The company states the design has over 275,000 successful field runs. FracSure Express combines a PurpleSeal composite plug, a WLAK, and a PurpleSet setting tool at half the length and under 25% of the weight of conventional combo tools, and can be run as ball drop or ball-in-place. FracSure Max adds a PurpleFire gun to that string, arriving factory assembled with no job-site wiring or BHA make-up.
