TransTex Treating

Hallettsville, TX Gas Processing & Treating

Leases and sells natural gas amine plants, JT skids and TEG dehydration units, with a Houston headquarters and a fabrication yard in Hallettsville, Texas.

TransTex Treating leases and sells natural gas treating, processing and production equipment, operating from corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas and a 10-acre fabrication yard in Hallettsville, Texas. New build equipment is built to ASME code. The company states its equipment operates across all major basins in the lower 48, and that it is currently contracted to treat over 1 BCFD.

Gas treating

Amine plants are offered in a full range of sizes for removing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from natural gas, a process also called gas sweetening or acid gas removal. Units are modular and skid-mounted, with the circulation system configured to the gas composition and contaminant levels of each application. Technicians handle on-site startup and commissioning, and remote monitoring and automation options are available.

Standard features listed for the amine plants include:

  • 100% NACE compliant units available
  • 100% redundancy on all critical pumps
  • Pressure safety valves on all critical equipment
  • High vibration shutdown switches to protect motors and pumps
  • NFPA 87 compliance for burner management

Where hydrogen sulfide is present and CO2 is at or below spec, H2S scavenger vessels are offered as an alternative to amine treating. Both liquid scavenger towers and sulfatreat tower equipment are carried, in a compact skid-mounted design the company says needs minimal infrastructure and site preparation.

Gas processing

A fleet of JT skids applies the Joule-Thomson effect to condense and recover natural gas liquids, lower BTU levels to meet pipeline specifications and control hydrocarbon dew point. The skid-mounted plants are rated at 1440 psig with capacities from 1 to 20 MMSCFD, and each carries a heat exchanger, JT valve, separator, methanol injection system and control system.

Refrigeration plants are available in small and large sizes. The engineering team works from a submitted gas analysis and design conditions to compare equipment options and project expected recoveries, and contract processing and turnkey installation are offered across the processing line.

Production equipment

Alongside treating and processing, the production inventory covers:

  • Triethylene glycol (TEG) dehydration units
  • Aerial coolers, in electric and natural gas driven options
  • Filter separators
  • Scrubbers

Dehydration packages are modular, built as a high-pressure contactor tower skid and a low-pressure regeneration skid, and sized to specific flow rates, inlet pressures and temperatures, with 200, 500 and 750 MBtu/hr TEG regeneration systems referenced. Each package includes a BTEX eliminator, an atmospheric cooled heat exchanger paired with a two-phase separator, to capture BTEX and VOC emissions released during regeneration. TransTex also acquires and overhauls equipment to meet production requirements it does not hold in stock.

Field service and operations

Turnkey installation is included as part of a standard lease agreement, and operations and maintenance is available for clients who prefer TransTex to run the plants. Troubleshooting and consulting support is also offered.

The company describes a hands-on operating approach, with daily on-site plant inspections covering fluid levels, temperatures, pressures, filters and amine concentrations, and remote monitoring or callout systems that flag problems. It states that it offers flexible contracts with guaranteed plant run times. Stephen Morgan serves as president and chief executive officer, has been with TransTex since 2010, and previously directed business development ahead of the company's acquisition by Eureka Midstream.
